Summer Fit Tips

If you’re an athlete you know how crucial it is to stay in shape even in the Off Season. If you don’t stay in shape, you’re body will struggle even more getting back into the season. This is a major concern for cheerleaders because jumping and tumbling can take a huge toll on your body if you are not physically prepared. Injuries are more susceptible to those who have taken some time off and then all at once try to practice their skills again. To avoid injuries, it is important to make sure you are strengthening your body throughout the “off season”. (more…)

Every year, just after the offseason begins, something I like to call the ‘Offseason Dread’ sets in. What is this, exactly? It’s the “I’m so excited for summer, but the first practice back is going to be the worst!”

I couldn’t be happier with my decision, but unfortunately this gal’s fitness routine changed drastically. While working at SoulCycle and Lululemon for the past two and a half years, daily sweat sessions were encouraged before and after shifts (and they were usually free which is always great!). I personally have struggled with this as well. So what do I do?
A Walk Down Memory Lane

Which my kids think is so uncool but what they are choosing to wear is completely eighties fashion. There is a video floating around on YouTube that is a great walk down memory lane with fitness and fashion. The workout is Jazzercise focused and the fashion is leotards and biketards. Of course the guys in the video are wearing the short shorts and tank tops. You know the “look”, very similar to Richard Simmons! When teens look at those old videos they are not only shocked by what everyone is wearing and doing but they are so confused that we did those workouts in our home to a VHS tape!! Let’s fast forward now! (more…)
