Hey there and welcome back to another cheerFIT weekly workout! This week, I want to focus on a question I get all the time – and I bet there has been a point where you have struggled from this too.

Hi everyone! Hope you are in full swing of school, training and homework. It is definitely Fall here in Tennessee. Leaves are changing and falling and we had our first frost and freeze of the year this past weekend too.
I have a question for you. Are you wearing your blue this month? Strange question I’m sure, but very important. Did you know, the month of October is National Anti Bullying awareness month? Did you know someone you know maybe being bullied? Did you know someone you know may be a bully? Want to know a really scary fact? Over 30,000 kids each day, stay home from school, because they are being bullied. Do you know that over 16% of kids age 10 to 14 think of killing themselves every year because of being bullied? If you ask almost any athlete what the worst thing is that could happen during their career, I think you would get two answers most commonly: a loss at [insert name of top competition in the sport] or an injury. Let’s be honest: injuries are the absolute worst. Why? Not only do they take weeks to months to years of recovery, there is an uncertainty associated with injury that doesn’t exist with a loss, or a team change, or any other undesirable event. Let’s say you lose a championship, it’s a question of when you’ll be able to try again. If you get injured, it’s a question of if you’ll be able to try again. (more…)

Do you ever feel like there’s not enough time in the day? Like your to-do list is staring you in the face and all you can think is, how on Earth is this all going to get done in time?! Trust me, we’ve all been there, and with the busy schedule of a cheerleader, it becomes hard to juggle school work, practice, social life, and most importantly, sleep!! So what’s the best way to manage all of the craziness swirling around your dizzy head and still make time to squeeze in your workout? Here’s a few tips to keep you ahead of the game!

15 years ago, my life took an unexpected turn that would change my future forever. I was 14 years old, had already secured a cheerleading scholarship, and was on my way to being awarded a soccer scholarship as well.
A week and a half into my freshman year of high school and that all came to a screeching halt. I don’t want to go too much into the details but I remember laying on the ground (my class was playing soccer, coincidentally) and not being able to feel my leg. I remember knowing that I had to risk getting up, probably injuring my leg further, before I got kicked in the head on top of everything else. (more…)

Ahhh yes the power of stretching! Yes read that again, the POWER OF STRETCHING!
Why is it that stretching is usually the one thing everyone forgets about or thinks – eh I don’t need to do that. EH WRONG! Stretching is so important – both mentally and physically. Not only does stretching help increase your range of motion (yes makes you more flexible) but it also helps prevent injury AND strengthens your mind as well.
That’s right – stretching can help clear your mind, give you that ‘me moment’ and energize you in a whole new way. So let’s get those good vibes flowin’!
