Our ambassadors share with us their personal stories and obstacles they overcome along the way. We have an amazing community of athletes who fuel their passion and determination with the CHEERFIT lifestyle.

CAN YOU SHARE WITH US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY AND HOW YOU GOT TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?

This is my second year cheerleading and its been a bumpy road. Last year I broke my arm so I couldn’t train properly for eight weeks. This meant I started this year with very little tumbling skills. I was scared to use my arm again because I didn’t want it to hurt. With the encouragement from all of my teammates and coaches, I started to trust myself. By March I managed to get my back walkover, then my front walk over…This gave me the confidence and drive to do more.

By March I managed to get my back walkover, then my front walk over…This gave me the confidence and drive to do more.

Then came the front and back handsprings, I felt like I was getting something new each week. Its now September I am now in level 4 for tumbling. I am so proud of myself and that all the hard work is paying off. I also dance and study Tae Kwon Do. This helps teach me about patience and persistence. I want everyone to know that dreams only stay as dreams if you are not willing to reach for them.

CHEERFIT AMBASSADOR FEATURE: ALAHNI NAPIER

The CHEERFIT ambassador community is filled with leaders and motivators who all share a passion for fitness, love for cheering and drive to help inspire others.

Our ambassadors share with us their personal stories and obstacles they overcome along the way. We have an amazing community of athletes who fuel their passion and determination with the CHEERFIT lifestyle.

This week, we meet Alahni, an all-star cheerleader and honor student who tells us about the pressures of being an athlete, but reminds us just how much of a confidence builder our teammates are!

We are excited to share with you our ‘Ambassador of the Week Feature’ with Alahni Napier!

CAN YOU SHARE WITH US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY AND HOW YOU GOT TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?

I have been a part of the all-star cheer world for 6 years now. I have experienced more ups than downs, but the downs are what almost caused me to walk away from a sport I truly love.

I went through an entire season where at the end I lost almost all confidence in myself. The pressure to be perfect was one that I felt from other athletes, but also within. It was a tough decision, but I chose to restart and find myself, by relocating to a new gym. You see, I learned that bullying isn’t always verbal or physical, it can be mental too. Clicks, blame, shame – it tears confidence down. It is important to always support and uplift our teammates.

That is what makes us better.

Athletes train hard and we compete hard, but we may not always place 1st. It is only when we learn to accept that our best efforts are worth far more than a trophy that we truly win.

– CHEERFIT Ambassador Alahni Napier

ARE YOU INVOLVED IN ANY VOLUNTEER OR NONPROFIT AND HOW DO YOU MOTIVATE OTHERS?

I am always looking for different ways to be active in my community. I am a member of nonprofit organizations and do what I can as far as donating to charity. I have run a couple of different drives including a “Smile Drive” that I am most proud of. In October, was able to collect and donate dental hygiene supplies to my local YWCA and the experience was great! I have also run a “Warmer Winter” drive where I collected hats/scarves/gloves for the homeless and have plans to do so much more.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

I have participated in the Summit 3 years in a row, obtained my full and so much more in the cheer world. But my greatest accomplishment would be my academics. I am in honors classes and maintain an A average. While I’m only in 6th grade, I am currently working at an 8th grade level.

SHARE WITH US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY AND HOW YOU GOT TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY!

I started cheering when I was 4 and it is still my whole life. In 2010 I was on a large junior level 3 at Stars Vipers. It was around NCA and I started complaining of my back hurting. The parents and gym owner had a meeting and told my parents that I have been in pain, but it was probably just sore muscles that are hurting. My mom said it was just muscles that were sore! I competed NCA and the rest of the competitions that season and my back still hurt. We just finished choreo for the new season and my mom decided to take me to the doctor. We did X-rays and they found nothing.

The doctor said come back in 2 weeks if it still hurts. Of course it still hurt, so we went back and they referred us the orthopedic doctors. Those doctors decided to get me a CT scan and I ended up finding out that I had fractured my L4 and L5 pars bilaterally. I couldn’t cheer for 3 months and I felt so bad!

The doctors told me that if my back still hurts after the 3 months were over and I kept doing things, I could potentially become paralyzed.

I never missed a practice while I was out.

After those months, the doctors cleared me to cheer again. Right before NCA the coaches decided that they wanted me to compete, so I did. . .I won NCA that year!

Then, about two years ago, my foot was hurting and it wouldn’t stop. We went to the doctor and they gave me a boot to help me try and stay off of it. On my way to NCA that year, my doctor called my mom and told her I was to stop activity.

I ended up having a torn ligament and really close to almost another torn ligament. I was in a boot for 3 months. . .but through motivation, determination and commitment – I am now back and better than ever!

Thank you for letting me share my story. –cheerFIT Ambassador Erika Bodenhausen

Here’s How to PUSH Past Your Limits and Reach Your Goals

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW A SECRET?

The best piece of advice I can give you is this…

When you’re tired and you want to give up, push past your limits! When you do not think you can get in that last rep, that last stunt or final tumbling pass..push past your limits.

I want you to be strong, not just strong but CHEERFIT STRONG – which means you are tough mentally and physically.

But how do you build strength in both body and mind?

A November to Remeber

A November to Remeber

Hi Friends!

Wow, so November is here and things definitely start to pick up and get a little cray crayyy. Between holidays, competition season, traveling, holiday parties and all that good stuff – there is just not enough time in the day. Or is there??

Here at cheerFIT we are committed to maximizing every ounce of time and living life to the fullest. As I reflect back on the year and look to make this a November to Remember – here are some cheerFIT tips of how you can too!

Tip #1: Make a to-do list each day and stick to it

The NUMBER ONE (yes I repeat #1 tip) that I have learned and have been making a conscious effort to follow is this:

  • Each day, make a to do list of what you want to accomplish.
  • Schedule estimated times that it will take for each task and go get to it.
  • Even more important – do not answer emails during scheduled tasks! Emails are reactive and I want you to be proactive.  Yes,  of course include time to answer emails – but during your schedule time to get work done, study, workout – you name it – step A-W-A-Y from your emails!

I have been trying this nifty little tip out and, it workS! I want to make it a November to Remember and be able to look back on what I have accomplished.

Tip #2:  Take time to say thank you

Here is a tip that you will never regret – take time to say thank you!

Ok, so you know the smile project I was talking about last month? This tip goes hand in hand with that. You want to take time to say thank you and appreciate those who help you. Saying a simple thank you, sharing a smile or scheduling in some ‘fun time’ goes a long way. A special thank you to the cheerFIT team for helping us make this a November to Remember!

Tip #3: Schedule in me time

Yes everyone needs a little me time. No this is not selfish – it is necessary to help YOU be more productive. For me, my me time is working out. Oh! Super important reminder- I do not work out with my phone. Nope I don’t check emails, answer calls, check social media – none of that during my me time.

Do you need some help scheduling in that me time? Schedule a free consultation with ME (your cheer fitness trainer and motivator)  and I will personally help you find that me time and make this a November to Remember!

HELP ME FIND MY 'ME TIME'

Well, there you have it friends – my top 3 tips to make this a November to Remember. How are you making this November count? Leave a comment and share your tips. We would love to hear from you!
